Side mulcher
GIRAFFA XL, known in the market simply as GIRAFFA, is the best seller in MASCHIO GASPARDO side-mounted mulcher range. Long valued in the market for being synonymous with rugged build and versatility of use. A must-have for dealing with grass or brush, either behind or to the side of the tractor. Suitable for tough jobs, equally happy working in olive groves, hazel groves and orchards as it is mowing along headlands, ditches or hedgerows, it is available in working widths ranging from 5.2 to 6.9 ft, paired with tractors with horsepower in the 50 to 110 range.
GIRAFFA XL's parallelogram frame arm with forged joint gives it a wide range of movement, both horizontally - to offer the greatest number of possible operating combinations, such as work in conjunction with front-mounted equipment - and vertically thanks to inclines ranging from -65° e +90°.
Giraffa XL comes in two versions: with the gearbox mounted internally or externally. The internal version is recommended if the unit is going to be used mainly on the flat or for vertical work (hedgerows, banks). The external version gives greater reach for ditch work.
The gearbox shaft features a freewheel, while the PTO, which comes as standard, is direct drive.
Hammer flails along with the counter blade welded inside the chamber are tasked with shredding, effortlessly handling brush up to 2.4 inch in diameter, while the electronically balanced rotor ensures a consistently high speed with very little vibration.
GIRAFFA XL can be fitted with a double skin protection complete with a (second) toothed counter blade. The double skin protection is always recommended when dealing with hard debris or stones; the second counter blade boosts the shredding action on the mulched woody material.
The rear roller, whose purpose is to compact the resulting shredded residue, is a self-cleaning model thanks to its location near the rotor, and can be set to two different positions. This adjustment ensures unbeatable stability in any conditions.
The head's floating system allows it to follow the contours of the surfaces being worked on, preventing any damage to the structure. The connecting rod on one of the lower hitch points is an additional safety measure in the event of collision with obstacles.
GIRAFFA XL is also fitted with a "multi-aggressive" rotor, featuring a greater number of hammers to make it more aggressive, or the "damage-prevention" rotor, which has specially shaped hammer supports to prevent damage when dealing with stones.
